Oleksandr Zinchenko believes Manchester City team-mate Leroy Sane is very, very close to securing a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Sane has been linked with Bayern since last season, and according to SportBild, Sane is set to take a 30 percent cut in the salary which he was demanding from Die Roten before coronavirus pandemic hit Europe.

The City player has been out injured with a knee ligament damage since August, and isn't in the best shape of his life.

“I saw Leroy Sané just as I was leaving the base. I didn’t recognise him at first, he looked like our bus driver!” the Ukrainian remarked (h/t BavarianFootballWorks).

“Talked with him for a bit, teased him about Bayern Munich, but he wasn’t letting anything slip. I think he’s a whisker away from moving there. But he needs to sort out his weight first. I was told he has put on seven extra kilos!"

Sane made his long-awaited comeback for the Manchester City U-23s against Arsenal, making a 57-minute cameo at the end of February just before the Premier League was put on hiatus. During his time with City, Sane has contributed 39 goals and 45 assists from the left-wing in 134 matches.

Die Roten has always been looking to add top German talent to their squad. They moved swiftly to secure the signings of Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka in the past few seasons, making sure that they have a German spine in the squad. The recent acquisition of Alexander Nubel also reaffirms the club’s strategy to sign top German players from the Bundesliga.
