Premier League giants Liverpool will reportedly battle Real Madrid in the pursuit of highly-rated La Liga defender, Diego Carlos, according to Marca (via DailyMail). There were reports in January that linked Liverpool with Carlos, but those reports also suggested that the Reds may wait until the summer transfer window to make a move.
The Sevilla defender has been impressive for his side this season before the Coronavirus outbreak, and Jurgen Klopp’s team has reportedly revived their interest in the 27-year-old, whom they see as a long-term partner to Dutchman Virgil Van Dijk.

However, it has been suggested that both Madrid clubs – Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid – are also keen on signing the Sevilla defender, who has featured in 31 games for the club from Andalusia. He has also helped his side keep 13 clean sheets this season – which is no mean feat.
The Los Palanganas secured the services of Diego Carlos from Ligue 1 outfit Nantes only in the summer of 2019. The Brazilian defender has since shone for the La Liga side, and that has attracted some of Europe’s’ top clubs.
However, it is also believed that the defender has a £65 million release clause inserted in his contract, so clubs interested in him will have to trigger the clause to land him this summer.
