Real Madrid are going to donate medical equipment to aid in the fight against the COVID-19 crisis, which has plagued the entirety of Spain and is showing no signs of slowing down.
The virus, which originated in Wuhan in China, has spread all across the globe with Europe now being its new epicenter. 680 people died in Spain on March 24 alone, which was their worst since the outbreak of the virus.
With things taking a turn for the worse with each passing day, Madrid have taken the initiative to contribute in the fight against the pandemic. According to the president of Madrid autonomous region Isabel Diaz Ayuso, Madrid president Florentino Perez has promised her that the club are set to make a huge donation of healthcare material.
"Thanks to @realmadrid for their very important contribution to tackle coronavirus and help us save lives. The president Florentino Pérez has confirmed to me that the club will make a large donation of healthcare material,” she wrote on her Twitter, as per AS.
This news comes after Sergio Ramos confirmed that he, his teammates and the club have decided to help by donating medical equipment.
"I am a UNICEF ambassador and through them we have done something to help. UNICEF is committed to bringing medical supplies to hospitals and the material arrives on Friday. We have made an important contribution and all my colleagues and the club have participated with UNICEF. We all have to help," explained Sergio Ramos, as per Marca.
