FA Cup: 3 Things to Look Forward to as Derby County Host Manchester United

Frank Lampard’s former side Derby County take on Manchester United at iPro Stadium later tonight in the FA Cup. The Red Devils are favourites to win the clash and advance to the next round but stranger things have happened before.

With that in mind, here are the three things to look forward to from this match.

3. United on a roll

Even though the Manchester United fans weren’t entirely pleased with how their team managed to drop two points against Everton in the league, the Red Devils are on an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

They will now face Derby County, who play in the second division and, ideally, have little to no chance to win against the Old Trafford outfit. As a result, it is most likely going to be 9-match unbeaten run for the Red Devils.

2. Bruno Fernandes on fire

Bruno Fernandes has been in incredible form for the Red Devils. The Portuguese has picked up at Manchester United where he left off at Sporting and has changed the complexion of the Old Trafford outfit.

The Portuguese has two goals and assists each in four matches in the league for the Red Devils. He was the one that scored a wonderful equalising goal against Everton in the last game to give his side a point.

It is against teams like Derby that Fernandes can be at his lethal best.

1. Rooney return

Wayne Rooney will face his former side in this match and would look to come up with an inspirational performance. The former Red Devils’ player, however, has all the numbers stacked against his side.

The Rams have only one win in their last five matches. They have also failed to qualify beyond the fifth round since the 1998-99 season, which is why Rooney will have a difficult task ahead of his tonight.
