Barcelona would have to cough up a world record breaking £225m if they are to sign Sadio Mane from Liverpool in the upcoming summer transfer window due to a special transfer clause between the two clubs. Real Madrid too are said to be interested in the Senegalese maestro.
The Liverpool forward has been linked with a move to Barca or their arch-rivals Real Madrid this summer, along with teammate Mo Salah and it has been reported that the Reds would do anything to keep hold of their destructive duo.
As per the Mirror, since Coutinho's signing, Barcelona have an agreement with the Reds that they will pay £89m above the market value for any of their players until summer 2021.
With Transfermarkt currently valuing Mane at £135m, it would imply that Barcelona will have to smash the world record transfer amount of £198m that PSG paid for Neymar. The agreement is in place because of the Spanish champion's move for Philippe Coutinho in January 2018.
However, Real Madrid could be licking their lips at the prospect of trying to enter the market for Mane as they continue to look for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, Mane has continued to look impressive for Liverpool this season and while he has no reason to leave the Reds, but come on, a call from Barcelona or Real Madrid will definitely shift his mind.
