Real Madrid have reportedly turned their interest toward signing Erling Haaland instead of the expensive Kylian Mbappe. Meanwhile, Barcelona are set to up their pursuit of signing Lautaro Martinez from Inter in the summer.

The Los Blanco sit two points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race after a poor week saw them drop five points. Madrid slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Levante on Saturday, with Eden Hazard picking up yet another ankle injury.

And with the goals drying up, Madrid president Florentino Perez could be tempted to turn to Borussia Dortmund goal-machine Haaland this summer.

According to MarcaMadrid are now concerned that Mbappe, although clearly world-class, would simply cost too much to sign from Paris Saint-Germain, with the Ligue 1 club reportedly looking for offers in excess of €250million.

Haaland has been sensational since joining Dortmund, and Marca report that a release clause of €75m has been included in his contract that will come into effect in 2021 and would love to see him team up with compatriot Martin Ødegaard.

Meanwhile, according to Calciomercato, Barcelona want to start negotiations with Inter for Lautaro Martinez as Madrid and Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the player.

The 22-year-old Argentine striker, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Lautaro has a release clause of €111million, valid in the first two weeks of July, but Barcelona aren’t prepared to pay the fee in full. Instead, they’d rather pay a higher fee, like €150 million, over multiple installments.
