A member of Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar’s inner circle has revealed that the player is happy in Paris right now and is fully focused on his football amid rumours linking him to FC Barcelona.
The Brazilian departed the Camp Nou in 2017 for a then-world record of €222 million but things didn’t turn out as well at PSG as he had hoped for. Last summer, the former Santos star tried his best to rejoin Barcelona but the move didn’t end up happening.
Meanwhile, club captain Lionel Messi has shown his full support to the Brazilian coming back and also went as far as claiming that Neymar himself wants to come back.
"I’ve said it many times, in sporting terms, Ney is one of the best in the world and I would love him to return,” said the Barcelona captain, as per AS.
"Messi talks about the past situation, not the current one," a reported source close to the player told L’Equipe...https://t.co/XoV009tE77— AS English (@English_AS) February 21, 2020
He continued, "He (Neymar) is really looking forward to coming back, he always seemed sorry [for the way he left]. He did a lot to try to return [last summer] and that would be the first step in an attempt to come back."
However, according to a source close to Neymar, he is not focused on Barcelona at the moment and that the Argentine is speaking about the situation in the past, which is quite far from the case right now.
"Messi talks about the past situation, not the current one,” the source said.
However, it has been widely reported that Neymar’s future in France actually depends on how PSG do in the UEFA Champions League this season.
