Italian champions Juventus are reportedly considering making a move for German champions Bayern Munich's star midfielder Thiago Alcantara if they fail to land Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

Pogba's future at the Theatre of Dreams remains in the dark after an injury hit season has seen him not make a comeback for a long time now. This, coupled with the war of words between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mino Raiola has given a new angle to the whole issue.

Meanwhile, Pogba's former club Juventus are one of a number of clubs interested in signing him with Real Madrid also keen on signing the 26-year-old.

But widespread competition for the player and United's incredible asking price means Juve may be weighing up their options with Tuttosport reporting that they could instead target Bayern's Thiago.

Thiago's contract at Bayern is scheduled to end next season with a renewal unlikely which would give Juventus a chance to snap the Spaniard for a minimal price or free, as they have done with other players in the past.

After scoring three goals in his last five games, 28-year-old Thiago is a crucial part of Bayern's team as they look to claim an eighth-successive Bundesliga title and make progress in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Manchester United do not intend on parting ways with the player unless their asking price is met. Solskjaer admitted the player is 'not anywhere near' returning to training as he continues to recover from the ankle surgery he had in January.
