Matteo Guendouzi was dropped for Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Newcastle United following a heated argument with Mikel Arteta during the team's winter break in Dubai.

According to The Telegraph, Guendouzi and his manager had a ‘heated row’ during the Gunners’ recent winter break training camp in Dubai as the Spanish coach was unhappy with the midfielder’s attitude.

Arteta responded by dropping the 20-year-old for Sunday’s game at Emirates Stadium, the first time the France Under-21 international had not been involved in Premier League matchday squad this season.

Arsenal romped to a 4-0 win over Newcastle with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil, and Alexandre Lacazette all getting on the score sheet, thereby recording the biggest win of Arteta’s reign so far.

Guendouzi arrived as one of Unai Emery’s first signings at the Emirates and has shown promise during his short spell at the club so far. It does not look like there will be any official disciplinary action taken against Guendouzi for the incident, with his exclusion from the squad deemed as sufficient punishment.

This is not the first time Guendouzi has come across as hot-headed and immature. Earlier this season he responded to taunts from Watford fans by gesturing the scoreline with his fingers. Arsenal were leading 2-1 at the time but went on to concede an equalizer.

The Gunners are next in action in Greece against Olympiacos in the Europa League round-of-32 on Thursday.
