The Old Trafford outfit were linked with a move for their former player in Josh King but signed Odion Ighalo on a loan deal in the end. And now, according to a report from The Athletic, the Red Devils had made a £25million bid for the striker with Woodward giving them a 15-minute deadline to accept the offer.
“You have 15 minutes to tell us whether you accept, or we’ll be signing a player from China,” he reportedly said.
The report from the website further added that Bournemouth weren’t sure about the seriousness of the offer.
‘Bournemouth were not sure whether this briefest of deadlines was serious and let the 15 minutes elapse as they weighed up the proposal. Sources say it also indicates a certain reticence from Old Trafford to actually complete the deal.’
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had previously worked with King in the reserves team before the player joined Blackburn. The report claims that the Norwegian was keen on a reunion as he thought King would provide cover for Marcus Rashford.
However, United were reported to have seen two of their bids for the player rejected with the highest offer being worth the aforementioned amount of £25million.
