Real Madrid’s interest in Kylian Mbappe has been storied for a long time now. The Merengues have been linked with the Frenchman since 2017 and were close to signing him from Monaco at the time.

However, in the end, Paris Saint-Germain offered him higher wages and the youngster opted to stay in France by joining the Parisiens. But still, Madrid remained interested in the player and the Frenchman is still being linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

It might, however, not end up happening.

According to a report from AS, the French outfit have a plan to keep the World Cup winner at least until 2022. The French outfit are going to make a huge offer for the youngster that would see him in the same bracket as that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi (around €50million per season after tax).

“It will not be so easy for Madrid to get Mbappé out of PSG,” the source told AS.

"They don't want to let him go before the 2022 Qatar World Cup. It's a strategic issue,” ensures the source.

The Frenchman’s salary with the Parisiens is relatively low at €15million net per season right now. As a result, the French champions intend to keep him at the club for longer than 2022 by awarding him wages that would put him on par with the Argentine and the Portuguese.
