India's latest footballing sensation, Ngangom Bala Devi has opened up on her inspiration in life, citing Boxing legend, MC Mary Kom as someone she always looked up to, revealing that her ability to juggle different aspects of her life is something to follow.
Bala Devi recently created history when she became the first-ever Indian woman to sign for a professional football club outside India, after getting on board Scottish giants, Rangers FC. The 30-year-old who is widely considered as one of the best players in the South Asian footballing circuit, was signed on an 18-month deal by Rangers following her successful trial spell with the club in November.
Her recent success has led to increased attention on the women's footballing circuit in India and on her - but the player herself wants to follow in the footsteps of one of the country's greatest ever athletes.

“[Mary Kom] is such a legend. I am only amazed at how she manages boxing and all other important things even now, she is mother to three children. She inspires me," she said as per Sportstar.
With 52 goals in 58 games scored since 2010, Devi has been the top-scorer in the Indian Women’s League for the last couple of seasons and was named the AIFF Women’s Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016 following her prolific outings in front of the goal.
It will be interesting to see how she performs in a foreign country where the style of play, conditions and language is different and one can only hope that she continues her brilliant form in Scotland in the future.
