Manchester United are set to raise the offer to bring Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford, according to a report from The Times. United had seen negotiations come to a halt as Sporting increased the asking price of the player following the Red Devils’ hardball tactics.

United offered £42.5million plus bonuses for the midfielder but Sporting rejected it as they want £50m upfront. This brought the deal to a standstill but it now seems like the Red Devils have revived their interest.

The Old Trafford outfit are back with a new bid worth £46.4m plus bonuses. However, Sporting want £50.6m upfront and are expecting another club to come up with an offer for the Portuguese superstar.

It is further reported that there is a growing sense of belief among the United hierarchy that a deal could be concluded by the time the window slams shut.

The former Sampdoria star had been linked with the Old Trafford outfit in the summer. Indeed, after a whole summer of rumours, Fernandes stayed at Sporting and started the season with a bang.

The attacking midfielder has 8 goals and 7 assists to his name from 16 matches in the league and is exactly the type of player needed at the Theatre of Dreams as they have struggled to create chances in the final third.
