Argentina and Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi has picked his top five-a-side which surprisingly does not consist of either him or rival, Cristiano Ronaldo in the team, though he still believes that they are the best footballers in the world at present.

Messi who is widely considered as one of the best players in the history of the sport, if not the greatest, picked Barcelona team-mate, Luis Suarez, former club team-mate, Neymar while also reserving places for fellow Argentinian, Sergio Aguero with the likes of Real Madrid's, Eden Hazard and Paris Saint-Germain striker, Kylian Mbappe making the cut.

While not picking either himself or Ronaldo, Messi still believes the duo are still the best players in the world - claiming that they have not been dethroned as yet while also revealing that he enjoyed competing with the Portugese during his time in the La Liga.

"It was nice to have Cristiano Ronaldo in LaLiga because of the prestige he gave him, although it was hard to see him raise titles. [But] excluding him and me, the best players in the world are Mbappe, Neymar, Hazard, Suarez and Kun [Aguero]," he said to Marca.

The 32-year-old who is key to Barcelona's fortunes has been in brilliant form this season too, netting 17 goals in 22 games so far.
