Adama Traore produced a quality ball from the right wing for striker Raul Jimenez to score Wolves' only goal against Liverpool last night.
Liverpool had taken an early lead in the match through Jordan Henderson when the English midfielder headed home astutely from a Trent Alexander Arnold corner in the 8th minute. Wolves then equalized in the second half after Adama's first time cross from the right wing was met by a leaping Jimenez nod past Allison.
The winner arrived in the 84th minute when Roberto Firmino displayed nifty footwork to work a yard of space in the box and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner with his left foot.
Klopp: Traore is pretty much at the moment unplayable. He's not only a winger, he keeps the ball, holds the ball and sets up goals. That makes it difficult. Each ball you lose is 100% a counter-attack for them. But they didn't have too many chances but it was a super goal.— Ian Doyle (@IanDoyleSport) January 23, 2020
The win extended Liverpool's run to 40 games unbeaten and left them comfortably on top of the Premier League table with 67 points out of a possible 69.
Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp praised Wolves and reserved special mention for their explosive winger Traore.
"We knew it would be a really tough game. Wolves are doing so unbelievably well and are so different from everything else you face during a year," he said.
"And Traore is pretty much unplayable. I've said it a couple of times and it's still true. He keeps the ball, holds the ball, and sets up goals obviously.
"It makes it so difficult, the way they defend. And each ball you lose is a counter-attack," he surmised.
