Real Madrid completed the signing of Reinier Jesus for €30million to make him their most expensive January transfer window signing of all time. The Brazilian represents the current strategy of the Los Blancos of signing talented young players before their price spirals out of reach.
It wasn’t a very long time ago when the Galacticos announced the signing of Vinicius Junior for €45m and Rodrygo Goes for €50m to kickstart a Brazilian wave at the club.
With the addition of Reinier, Madrid now have three of the most talented Brazilian players at their disposal. But they are not the only young talented players at the club as the they also have Martin Odegaard, Marco Asensio and Take Kubo in their ranks.
The Norwegian was signed as a 16-year-old in 2015 for just €3m but was able to only play once before being loaned out. He is now at Real Sociedad and is enjoying a breakthrough season with the Spanish club and, as a result, is expected to be back at Madrid in the summer.
Meanwhile, Marco Asensio signed for the Merengues in 2014 for only €4m but only joined the team in 2016 after being out on loan for two years. He has already played 135 times for the Blancos and has 27 goals to his name.
Finally, Kubo was signed earlier this summer on a Bosman transfer and is now enjoying regular first-team football on loan at Mallorca. In total, the Merengues have spent €132m on potential superstars and only time will tell as to whether their investment bore fruit.
