Mariano Diaz

3 Reasons Why Manchester United, Chelsea or Tottenham Should Sign Mariano Diaz From Real Madrid

Mariano Diaz is one of the players that the Galacticos want to get rid of in the January transfer window. He has played only twice this season and both of them came as substitute appearances in the Spanish Super Cup when Karim Benzema was out with hamstring injury.

Once Benzema returned to full fitness, the Spaniard was once again discarded from the squad in the league game against Sevilla. The former Lyon forward could be an excellent addition to any of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham and here are three reasons why.

3. He is hardworking

One of the best things about Mariano is his willingness to put everything on the pitch when he is playing. The Spaniard always runs around, pressing his opponent and leaving them with no time on the ball.

He is the type of worker that would not only help the team tactically but would also inspire his teammates to put in the shift that he does, which is one of the best reasons to sign him.

2. He is a potent goalscorer

Mariano may not have had the best two years at Madrid after returning from Lyon but that doesn’t change the fact that he is a good goalscorer. The Spaniard had a superb season in France and was one of Lyon’s best player.

Indeed, he finished the 2017-18 season with 20 goals to his name from all competitions and given that he is physically strong and good in the air, he would be a great fit in the Premier League with any of the three sides.

1. A good backup option

At Chelsea, Tammy Abraham is the undisputed first-choice striker while Harry Kane is the indispensable member of Tottenham’s first team. Meanwhile, Anthony Martial has finally found peace in the centre-forward role, which means that any striker that comes to any of these three clubs will have to be content with a backup role.

In this case, Spurs are the most desperate since Kane is out injured for the rest of the season. Mariano would start a lot of matches with the Lilywhites but even if he doesn’t, he will be content since he is a team player.

A loan deal will benefit everyone.
