Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus has showered praises on new teammate Erling Braut Haaland following his match-winning hat-trick against Augsburg on his debut.
The Norwegian made his first appearance for the club from the bench and came on to pitch in the 56th minute as his team were trailing 3-1. Soon after, he scored a great goal to start the comeback.
Jadon Sancho then scored to equalise before Haaland hit the net two more times to complete his hattrick on debut. Meanwhile, following the match, Reus praised his ambition and also compared his debut with that of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before adding that he hopes to see Haaland have a similar impact at Dortmund as the Gabonese had.
"He is very calm, but very ambitious," said captain Reus, as per Goal. "Erling trains incredibly hard. I think the last guy to make his debut in Augsburg was Aubameyang, and he scored three goals too.
“If it becomes the same kind of success story, I'd be all for that. Erling is making a good impression and he got off to a superb start today."
Haaland’s goals have helped Dortmund stay in the race for the top four. They could still have a shot at the time if Haaland keeps scoring for them regularly and it would be interesting to see how he turns out in their next game against FC Koln.
