5 Footballers and Their Marvel Superhero Equivalents (ft. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo)

Superhero movies are much loved these days due to how they portray a character or a team of characters at their best as well as at their worst. Indeed, it takes one to a world of fantasy, where they can dream the impossible.

As a result, Marvel movies became the biggest franchise in Hollywood and it was all wonderfully capped off in Avengers: Endgame.

Today we attempt at merging the Marvel Cinematic Universe with football by taking a look at five footballers and their Marvel Superhero equivalents.…

5. Karim Benzema – Ant-Man

Anyone who watched Avengers: Endgame will know that Ant-Man was one of the most crucial characters in the movie. He was, however, also underrated – just like Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman has been around playing for a top club for a decade and it is only now that people are truly starting to see the brilliance of the Frenchman. Benzema, like Ant-Man, is an important personality and is underrated for the most part.

4. Kevin De Bruyne – Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is the MCU’s master magician. He was the one who foresaw all possible outcomes in Infinity War and somewhat orchestrated the entire set of events that took place in Endgame.

In this regard, only one name could be aligned with the Sorcerer Supreme – Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian playmaker sees every move in advance and, as a result, tries to make the passes that set off a chain reaction of events leading to a goal.

He is the ultimate magician, the Doctor Strange of football.

3. Adama Traore – Black Panther

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have been the one who celebrated with a Black Panther mask but it is Adama Traore that truly aligns with Black Panther. The Spaniard has the build, the speed and the agility to be called as the Black Panther of football.

Indeed, the Wakandan King sets himself apart as one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the MCU and the same could be said about Traore when it comes to being one-on-one with the opposition.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo – Iron Man

Tony Stark labels himself as a genius, playboy, billionaire, philanthropist – and who else resonates these four things more than Cristiano Ronaldo? The Portuguese might not yet be worth in the billions but he is a multimillionaire and there is no doubt that he is also a genius.

Meanwhile, the former Sporting starlet is also known for his philanthropist efforts and is also extremely good-looking. Ronaldo, like Tony Stark, is a hard-worker who has become a pioneer of his respective field.

1. Lionel Messi – Thor

Thor is a God in the MCU and when it comes to football, Lionel Messi is often labeled as the God of the beautiful game. The Argentine is almost infallible like Thor and is also mighty but has his fair share of failures.

For Thor, his biggest failure was his inability to kill Thanos when he had the chance to do so (he should have gone for his head). Messi, meanwhile, had the chance to lift the World Cup in 2014, but missed a straightforward chance in the final.

The similarity between the two in their respective paths is uncanny here.
