Nice manager Patrick Vieira has revealed that it wasn’t possible for him to work with Mario Balotelli due to the player’s nature. The Italian has had conflicts with almost every manager that he has played under – be it Jose Mourinho or Roberto Mancini.

Even though great things were expected from Balotelli, he has not reached the heights that his potential had suggested. He was beginning to show glimpses of his genius with Nice before Patrick Vieira came in and shipped him off the club.

According to the former Arsenal midfielder, the player’s mindset didn’t suit the collectiveness that football requires. He also added that Balotelli’s attitude was directly contrasting to the philosophy and system that he wanted to implement at Nice, which is why opted to part ways with the volatile Italian.

"Mario's mindset was difficult for a collective sport," he said, as per Goal.

"The philosophy I wanted to put in place, the togetherness and work ethic I wanted to build, it was difficult for me to work with a player like Mario. It was really difficult for both of us to work together, so we decided to go different ways."

After moving around a plethora of clubs in his senior career, the forward now plies his trade at Brescia, where he has scored five goals 13 games so far.
