Former Manchester United star Paul Parker has stated that he prefers Bruno Fernandes over James Maddison for the Red Devils. Both Fernandes and Maddison have been linked with a move for the Old Trafford outfit but the former United star is leaning towards the Portuguese.
Fernandes was linked to the Manchester outfit for the entirety of last summer but nothing came of it as the attacking midfielder stayed put in Sporting. Recent reports, however, suggest that the Red Devils have resurged their interest in the Portuguese midfielder and Parker thinks that he would provide better value for money than Maddison since the Englishman could cost around £120million.
“I wouldn’t have any concerns over him playing in Portugal at his age,” he was quoted by Goal.
“People say you can’t put the words £50m and bargain together, but when you’re talking about James Maddison costing near or over £120m, and the fact he will have to hit the ground running, you have to reconsider.”
He then went on to claim that Fernandes is more technical than all the players United have in the team, except for Juan Mata.
“You’re getting a player who is technically better than any other United player in that area, other than arguably [Juan] Mata.”
The Sporting star has had a good start to the season so far, scoring 8 goals and assisting 7 times in 15 league matches so far.
