Argentinian legend, Juan Sebastian Veron has opened up on the chances of his national country and talisman, Lionel Messi when it comes to winning the next editition of the World Cup to be held in Qatar.

Veron who himself played in three World Cup's for his country, believes that the next edition could represent the last chance for Messi to etch his name in the country's history and win his first proper international tournament.

"The 2022 Qatar World Cup may be his last chance. As the last chance, he will have to see how to reach the goal," he said to Xinhua during a recent tour to China.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner can count himself unlucky when it comes to his national country and international tournaments, leading them to the finals of the 2014 World Cup and 2015, 2016 Copa America only to fail at the final hurdle.

He has been criticised for not being able to replicate his club form for his country, but in recent times he has shown that he is still their main player and is their all-time goalscorer with 70 goals from 138 appearances so far.

It will be interesting to see whether Messi will be able to break his duck come 2022 as before that they still have to go through the qualifying process.
