5 Players to Pick in Your Fantasy Premier League Team for the Weekend

Another weekend is here, and all eyes will be on Arsenal as they take on Manchester City on Sunday. Pep Guardiola's men find themselves in kind of a slump in the Premier League while Freddie Ljungberg finally picked up his first win as the Gunners beat West Ham last weekend.

But most of the other big teams have easy fixtures, which could only mean one of two things: Either we're in for a goal-fest or a snooze fest. The former looks more likely though.

The Champions League group stages drew to a close this week, and all six Premier League teams that entered the competition have qualified. However, the focus will be on the league, at least for the next couple of months.

Fantasy Premier League managers, if you've qualified for the Cup, this weekend is the first match. So, go on, scout your opponent and make sure your team's strong enough to beat them!

Here are 5 players to pick for your FPL team this weekend:

1. Vicente Guaita (£5.1)

Vicente Guaita has six clean sheets, with three from his last three games and with three saves in each. And Crystal Palace have a bunch of easy fixtures coming up: Brighton, Newcastle, West Ham, Southampton, and Norwich.

Selected by just 2.4 percent of managers at the time of writing this, Guaita is definitely the best cheap goalkeeper option right now. Palace have only conceded 18 goals this season, and Guaita definitely has better returns than David de Gea, Alisson or Ederson this season.

2. Anthony Martial (£7.6m)

Anthony Martial is currently enjoying life at Manchester United. He's reached nine goal contributions this season and has played well in his last four matches. He supplied two assists in a home win over Brighton in gameweek 12 and was on the scoresheet in last weekend's 2-1 victory at Manchester City.

Yet Martial remains overlooked by FPL managers. While Marcus Rashford sits in 23.5 percent of squads, the Frenchman is owned by only 5.7 percent. But as Everton visit Old Trafford this weekend, Martial has the chance to further improve his impressive record against the Toffees.

3. Danny Ings (£6.3m)

Danny Ings is this week's differential. The Saints forward has now scored points in eight of the last 10 gameweeks, scoring nine goals and assisting one. That already equals his goal involvement from last season, when he produced seven goals and three assists.

Ings’ total of 84 points has been bettered by just four other forwards in the opening 16 gameweeks. He is only the eighth most-popular forward in the game, found in just 10.8 percent of squads.

Southampton have a decent run of fixtures, and although he faces Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur among the subsequent three fixtures, Ings has already scored against both sides this season.

4. Tammy Abraham (£7.9m)

Tammy Abraham is the second most-bought forward ahead of this weekend's fixtures, and rightly so! And if you haven't already hopped on to the Tammy train, you're missing out. Abraham has scored in his last three home appearances for Chelsea in all competitions.

He will be looking to extend that streak against a Cherries side who visit Stamford Bridge after five straight defeats and with injuries at the back. Abraham costs under £8m for a striker at a top club with an elite-level goal return.

Get him in for Christmas and hand him that captain's armband if you don't have Jamie Vardy.

5. Jamie Vardy (£10.1m)

Every week, it's the same. Rinse and repeat. And never remove from your team. Whether you have Sadio Mane or Tammy Abraham or even Harry Kane, don't remove Jamie Vardy from your team. He's a sure-shot guarantee to give you points considering the form he's in.

Leicester welcome Norwich this weekend, and Vardy looks set to continue his run as the most-selected captain in Fantasy Premier League. Vardy has scored in each of the last eight Gameweeks, totalling 11 goals and three assists. He faces a Canaries defence who have conceded 34 goals, second only to the 35 of Southampton.
