Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of the most successful clubs in Europe winning a plethora of trophies both domestically and around the continent and the duo have another opportunity to add to their silverware after progressing yet another time to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Despite reservations over their dependence on club talsiman, Lionel Messi, Barcelona went unbeaten in Group F to easily top the group as they won all their games barring the two times they were held by Borussia Dortmund away and Slavia Prague at home, respectively.

The Los Blancos meanwhile had a much tougher time in Group A, losing 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in their opener, before managing to eeke out three wins and a couple of draws to eventually progress as runners-up.

The 13-time Champions League winners in all probability might have tougher draw considering that they go into the round of 16 draw without being seeded.

Barcelona's probable opponents:

Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta, Napoli, Lyon and Chelsea.

Real Madrid's probable opponents:

Bayern MunichManchester CityJuventusLiverpoolBorussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

It will be interesting to see who these two giants get in the draw with Madrid definitely in a tighter spot. The round of 16 draw of the 2019 Champions League takes place at on Monday, 16th December at 11am GMT/ 4:30pm IST in Nyon, Switzerland.
