Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has opened up on who he believes are the favourites to win the UEFA Champions League this season, with the former Red Devil backing Liverpool to retain their title.
The Reds secured progress to the round of 16 stage after easing past Red Bull Salzburg in their final Group game, thereby coming out as toppers of the group. Jurgen Klopp's side go into the knockout stages as the favourites, with Ferdinand believing that they have the "winning mentality".

"It’s a clean sweep for Liverpool, they just look the more complete team. They’ve just got a mentality, once you win, they’ve been on the cusp of winning for a couple of years but they got over that line, they won the big one, the Champions League," he said to BT Sport as quoted by Metro.
"They look like they’re going to win the Premier League now, I think they’ve just got a mentality now that they’re not going to lose. ‘Before a ball’s even kicked: “We’re not going to lose this game, we’re going to win.”
The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League takes place on Monday and Liverpool will be handed a tie with any of the following teams: Real Madrid, Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund or Lyon.
