​Juventus hitman ​Cristiano Ronaldo might have missed out on the ​Ballon d'Or this year but has scooped up multiple awards outside of football for his commercial activities.

The Portuguese legend earned a couple of recognition this year as one of his ad campaigns won multiple awards in Asia. The SportQuake agency’s campaign for Asian e-commerce platform Shopee featuring a dancing Ronaldo was among the winners at the SPIA Asia 2019 sports industry awards, ​Sport Business​ reported.

The Shopee-Ronaldo commercial was the talk of the sporting world, mostly in an amusing way due to the things Ronaldo did in the ad, thus gaining massive outreach. It won the Best Brand Activation of the Year category at SPIA, and came second in the Best Sponsorship of a Sport, Team, Individual or Event in Asia ($500,000 and above). 

While this recognition has nothing much to do with Ronaldo's greatness in football, it just goes to show what one can do with the name and accolades that he/she has earned over a longer period of time in a certain field of work.

It has been just about a week since Messi won his sixth Ballon d’Or award. All ​Messi fans are still celebrating that their favourite footballer won the accolade and some even think Ronaldo should have won the coveted crown.
