Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has stated that three years might just be enough for Ernesto Valverde at the Camp Nou. The former Athletic Club Bilbao manager is in his third season with the Blaugranas and this might just go on to be his last one at the Camo Nou
There had been calls to sack Valverde at the end of last season. Even though Barcelona won the league, most of the fans weren’t happy with the fact that the club bottled their first-leg leads in Europe for two straight seasons.
However, the board kept Valverde at the helm as he had the support of Lionel Messi and the others. At the end of this season, though, Valverde might be released from the club as Bartomeu has claimed that there is an option to discontinue his contract at the end of this season and that there is a possibility for the club to take it up.

“Will Valverde continue next season? He has a contract until 2021, but in spring there is an option through which it could be decided that he doesn’t continue," he said, as per AS.
“We have it with all the trainers. But his contract… either he or we will decide. What follows depends on many variables. Rijkaard was here five years, Guardiola four, Luis Enrique three.
“It could be. But it is a decision that he or the club must make as things go on.”
