Former Tottenham Hotspur star Dimitar Berbatov has claimed that he hopes to see Gareth Bale return to England to play for the Lilywhites under Jose Mourinho. The Welshman has been linked with a move back to Spurs for a couple of seasons now, though he has never moved.
The former Porto manager is a known admirer of the Welshman, who also praised Mourinho’s acquisition by Spurs, claiming that the self-proclaimed Special One is a winner and can help the club win trophies.
Berbatov has claimed that a move for Bale would be beneficial for all parties involved. He praised the Wales winger and stated that he would be happy to see the Real Madrid star join Tottenham again.
“Gareth Bale has said he thinks Jose Mourinho is a good fit for Tottenham so it seems possible that the Portuguese could try to sign the Welshman in January,” Berbatov said, as per Goal.
“That would be a great move for both parties. I'm a big admirer of Bale. It's not working out for him in Madrid and, if he comes back to England, Spurs would probably be the ideal club for him.
“He understands the club and was a great player for them before he left for Spain. I would be very pleased to see him back at Spurs,” the Bulgarian concluded.
Gareth Bale is currently recovering from an injury and is expected to be back to full fitness before El Clasico.
