Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt has denied claims from fellow Dutchman Patrick Kluivert that he regrets joining Juventus ahead of Barcelona.
De Ligt chose to move to the Italian giants after he was the subject of interest from many top clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blaugrana looked like they were winning the race until the Bianconeri won the battle and signed the defender.
The 20-year-old however, did not have a great start to his season, conceding two penalties and making defensive mistakes that led to goals for the opposition. He has recovered his form now, and is an important member of their team.

De Ligt: "Of course I don't regret it.. I heard this too, people write a lot.. If someone like him says it then it might make it more true but I guess it’s just an assumption of him." Voetbal pic.twitter.com/0A5R5WWYAX
Addressing claims made by Barcelona's academy director Kluivert earlier in the week, De Ligt spoke to Voetbal Primeur, as per AS, saying, "I don't regret the fact that I have moved to Juventus. They are saying and writing a lot of stuff.
"If a person like Kluivert says something like that, it might seem true, but it really is just his assumption.”
Matthijs de Ligt has made 12 appearances for Juventus so far this season, as they sit on top of the Serie A table, unbeaten and with the best defensive record in the league, having conceded only nine goals.
