Atletico Madrid are reportedly preparing a solid £35m bid for their rival club FC Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic in the January transfer window, according to Movistar+.

The Croatian midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou for the past two seasons and has started to speak up on his frustrations at not being given enough playing time at Barcelona.

Italian trio of clubs like JuventusInter Milan, and AC Milan have all shown interest in Rakitic, but now it looks like he will be heading over to the Wanda Metropolitano.

Rakitic has been an integral part of Barcelona's success in the last five years. During his time at the Nou Camp, the World Cup finalist has won three La Liga titles, one Champions League and four Copa del Rey crowns.

However, with Barcelona signing players like Arturo Vidal, Frenkie De Jong and Arthur Melo, he has been out of favour in Ernesto Valverde's books.

Rakitic has featured in just seven games in La Liga and three times in the Champions League this season mostly as a second half substitute and has scored no goals, providing just one assist.

The 31-year-old midfielder's contract at the Nou Camp expires in 2021, but now he looks set to leave in January after failing to secure a move over the summer. With Barcelona wanting to sell him before his price drops, it will be interesting to see the avenue he chooses for the next phase of his career.
