Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that the club can’t afford Jack Grealish and also praised the player for his performance in Aston Villa’s 3-0 loss against the Citizens.

The Manchester outfit won the clash after goals from Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan gave them an unassailable 3-0 lead. As a result, Guardiola’s men are just three points behind Liverpool now, who have a game in hand.

Despite the loss, the performance of Jack Grealish caught the attention of the Catalan, who praised the midfielder and labeled him as an incredible talent who always creates chances while on the pitch.

“He [Grealish] is an incredible, incredible player - top player," said Guardiola, as per Goal. "I am happy for the fact he is an Aston Villa player and he got offers to move on but decided to stay there in the Championship.

“I like that they were promoted to the Premier League and he defended his club. He is a talented player - fast in the final third, passes, always creates something.”

Guardiola then added that the Citizens wouldn’t be able to afford Grealish.

“He's an exceptional player but too expensive for Manchester City!”

With a win against Villa, the Citizens have 22 points from 10 games in the league. Liverpool, meanwhile, stand tall at the top of the table with 25 points from 9 matches thus far.
