In what was expected to be a high scoring game, reigning Indian Super League champions Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United played out an entertaining 0-0 draw at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

For Bengaluru FC, former Chennaiyin midfielder Raphael Augusto, India international Ashique Kuruniyan and Spanish forward Michael Onwu made their respective debuts. Ashique, surprisingly played in a defensive role for this game.

On the other hand, Ghanian legend Asamoah Gyan made his Indian Super League debut for NorthEast United FC against the Blues.

The game started at a fast pace with both teams testing each other out initially with long balls and then with some tactical short passing and the Highlanders came close to score twice in the first half as compared to a couple of occasions when Sunil Chhetri and Ashique Kuruniyan almost handed Bengaluru the lead, including a wonderful run by the youngster before firing his shot wide.

A fast paced first half was followed by another fast start in the second half but no harm was done by either teams until Nishu Kumar's long range attempt in the 64th minute which was smartly saved by Subhashish. Delgado took a low free-kick which the NorthEast defenders managed to clear but Nishu unleashed a cracker of a shot which could have gone in on another day.

The rest of the game was fought mostly in midfield in which both teams gave a good account of themselves, however they couldn't add an end product to their efforts, thus sharing the points on the night.
