Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Rafael van der Vaart has hit out at Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, claiming that the England international is not worth the "world record £80million" transfer fee that was paid for him.
Maguire has endured a mixed start to his career at Old Trafford, but was impressive for the Red Devils during their 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, making 10 clearances for them on the night.
Despite being placed 13th in the league table, United's defence has generally been solid, with only three sides in Liverpool, Leicester City and Sheffield United conceding less goals than them so far.
.@rafvdvaart is op zijn zachtst gezegd geen fan van Harry Maguire 😂— Ziggo Sport Voetbal (@ZS_Voetbal) October 20, 2019

Van der Vaart though is not too impressed with Maguire claiming that he could find 'amateurs' who could do the same job as the England centre-half.
"He can do something, but if he is worth so much money, Virgil van Dijk is worth £300million. If I am going to play with the amateurs on Sunday afternoon, I can easily find three who can do this. I mean that seriously. A bit silly to say, but I really think so," he said to Ziggo Sport.
The 26-year-old has made nine appearances for United so far and will be counted on by manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to help keep their defence solid as the season progresses.
