Barcelona sensation Lionel Messi has revealed that the club had offered him a lifetime contract but he chose to reject it because he isn’t a fan of the idea of being bound to the Catalans by a contract.
This is perhaps the first time when there has been so much talk of Messi’s potential exit from the Camp Nou. A few days ago, it was revealed that Messi had a clause that would allow him to leave the club at the end of every season.

Now, he has admitted that he doesn’t want to be bound to the club by a contract, even though, he added, he is open to staying at the Camp Nou for life.
“It is true that Barcelona proposed to me a contract for life, but what I said was that I do not want a contract to bind me,” he was quoted by AS.
“I want to be fine to perform, to play and continue fighting for objectives. Being here can be for life, but not with a contract.”
He also spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo, stating that he liked it when he was in the league as he gave the competition more value.
"It is strange. It was good when Cristiano Ronaldo was there,” said the Rosario-born footballer. He made the Clásico much more special, he gave more value to LaLiga as well”
