Club football resumes tonight as Chelsea take on Newcastle United at the Stamford Bridge. The Londoners may have had their hands tied at the back due to the transfer ban but they have done well for themselves this season.
The former Blues midfielder has given chances to youngsters and the Londoners are playing some wonderful football. They are going to take on the Magpies, who are high on confidence after beating Manchester United as here are the three things to look forward to…
3. Will Tammy Abraham continue his good form?
Over the last few years, Chelsea have spent a lot of money on strikers but none have really worked out well for them. Who knew that the Blues had a great player at home itself.
Tammy Abraham has been the answer to Chelsea’s scoring problems so far this season. He looks like a proper successor to the throne of Didier Drogba as his explosiveness has been in another league.
He has scored 8 goals from as many games in the league.
2. Can Newcastle spring a surprise?
Newcastle were in the relegation zone before they took on Manchester United . However, the Red Devils acted as their saviour and safely took them out of the drop zone as the Magpies won 1-0.
As a result, the Toons should be high on confidence and should fancy themselves to come out with at least a point. However, unlike United, Chelsea don’t really seem to have that much of a problem scoring.
1. Will Pulisic be given a chance?
Christian Pulisic was the last signing made by Chelsea before the transfer ban came into action but he has, so far, felt like a square peg in a round hole. The American, as talented as he might be, hasn’t been able to stamp a place in Chelsea’s side and with the emergence of several youth players, it seems to be getting difficult for him.
As a result, it would be interesting to see if Frank Lampard places some faith in him and gives him a chance against Newcastle tonight.
