Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is without doubt one of the greatest footballers in the history of the sport, winning multiple honours with both club and country, including five Ballon d'Or awards.

However, he has fallen behind his rival, Lionel Messi when it comes to the European Golden Shoe honours, as the Argentinian recently won his sixth such honour on Wednesday after topping European goalscoring charts with 36 goals last season.

Ronaldo for his part has won four Golden Shoe's and back in 2014/2015 when he won his last such honour, he had revealed that "it is the best award for me, even better than the Ballon d'Or".

"The competition for the Golden Shoe also comes from other leagues. I really love this award. It is the best award out there for me. Others can pick you as the best player, but an attacker's job is to make goals and I love that. I cannot deny that I love scoring goals."

With Messi also winning the Best FIFA Men's Player of the Year award for the first time earlier in the season, Ronaldo might be worried that he might just move ahead of him in the line to win the Ballon d'Or this year, considering that he is one of the favourites for the honour.
