Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has opened up about his friendship with former striker Ronaldo and stated that he slept with him more than he did so with his wife. He also spoke about his life as a Real Madrid player.

The legendary left-back played 512 times for Real Madrid, scoring 67 goals in the process and becoming one of its biggest legends. He was a part of the team that had the likes of Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo – the first Galacticos that changed the football world.

He fondly reminisced the time he met Ronaldo and shared rooms with him.

“I met Ronaldo in 1993 and from that moment we always shared the room. I’ve slept more times with Ronaldo than my wife,” AS quoted him as saying.

At Real Madrid, he enjoyed his most successful years as a player under the tutelage of Vicente Del Bosque. The Spanish giants won two league and Champions League titles, each, in what was their most successful era this millennium before the arrival of Zinedine Zidane as manager.

Del Bosque was renowned for his man-management skills, with Roberto Carlos stating that he was more of a friend than anything.

“He was more like a friend. You didn’t need rules. We knew perfectly well what he wanted. Training on Monday was at five in the afternoon. Sometimes on Tuesday as well. He didn’t ask us to come in at 11:00 because practically nobody showed up.”

He then went on to express his surprise on how he and his team-mates managed to get away with so much lavishness, labelling the happenings at the time as “crazy.”

“Today when I’m looking back I think; how is it possible that we got away with so much craziness? After every game it was private jets left, right and centre.

“We’d meet up at the private terminal at Barajas and Beckham would be off god knows where, Figo and Zidane would be off somewhere or other, Ronaldo and me… and we always had to train the day after tomorrow. I used to pray for Saturday fixtures so I could go to the Formula 1 on Sunday. It was private jets all over the place. It was crazy.”
