The Indian Super League's 2019/20 season is just around the corner with the campaign scheduled to start on October 20.
Previewing this season, we take a look at five records that could be created during the course of the upcoming ISL campaign...
5. 1000 goal mark for the league
This season of the Indian Super League could see the league reach 1000 goals scored in totality since its very inception. Over the first five seasons of the Hero ISL, 975 goals have been scored so far at a rate of 2.6 goals per match.
4. FC Goa could become the first team to win 50 ISL matches
FC Goa are one of the strongest sides in the Indian Super League and they could become the first team in the league's history to achieve the milestone of winning 50 games.
Till now, the Gaurs have as many as 38 wins to their name which means they would have to come up with their best ever ISL league stage performance by winning 12 games this season.
3. Six clubs will play their 100th ISL game
Six teams out of the current eight, who have been part of the Indian Super League since its first season will play their 100th match in the Hero ISL.
FC Goa will reach this milestone in their 12th match of the season, followed by ATK and Chennaiyin, who will hit the century in their 14th match of the campaign.
Among these six, only NorthEast will need to reach the semi-finals this season to reach the magic number of 100 games played.
Additionally, it would be necessary to mention here two new teams have been added to the league this season with Hyderabad FC and Odisha FC being the new franchisees with Delhi Dynamos and FC Pune City closing down their operations.
While Delhi's players and management have switched over to Odisha with a continuation of their previous contracts, ESPN reported that Hyderabad FC are also going to continue with a large number of FC Pune players and their most recent coach Phil Brown, who had signed a contract extension with Pune City for two more seasons at the end of his 2018-19 stint.
2. Subrata Paul could become the first goalkeeper to make 250 saves
Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Subrata Paul has managed a total of 206 saves in his Indian Super League career up till now and is just 44 saves away from achieving 250 saves.
Paul averages 41.2 saves per season, which means, a few more saves this season could see him achieve history.
Subrata has made more than 44 saves on two separate occasions in the past, once in 2014 (49) and again in the 2017-18 campaign (47).
1. Coro could become first player to score 50 ISL goals
FC Goa hitman Ferran Corominas has been the most lethal striker in the Indian Super League. With 34 goals to his name, he is already the Hero ISL's top goal scorer, despite having played just two seasons in India.
This season , Coro could be on track to become the first player in the league's history to score 50 individual goals.
