Losc Lille sporting director Luis Campos has revealed that his club's former player Nicolas Pepe will be successful at Arsenal because he has the same quality as Juventus hitman Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pepe is yet to hit the ground running since making his £72m move to the Premier League with the Gunners this past summer, scoring just one goal, from the penalty spot.

But Campos had no doubt the 24-year-old will be a hit at the Emirates, just like Ronaldo was at Manchester United.

As reported by the Mirror, in his interview with Sky Sports, Campos said, "In my opinion one of the characteristics of a top, top player is that they like football."

He continued, "I remember working with Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe: they know everything about football. Mbappe knew all the results of the second division in France. Nicolas Pepe is like that. He’s another example of the importance of a player liking football. After a game he watches the whole game again two times, to make himself more perfect."

Pepe struggled in Arsenal's clash with Manchester United but did well in their previous match against Bournemouth. He set up Arsenal's only goal of the game with an in-swinging left-footed corner onto the head of David Luiz.
