Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has claimed that he is not worried about Lionel Messi’s contract that has an exit clause which allows him to leave on a free transfer at the end of each season.

Acknowledging the stories, Messi claimed that he has no intention of leaving the club as long as they kept winning and Valverde claims that he has not read Messi’s interview as he already knows what the Argentine wants and claimed that the words of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is always misinterpreted.

“I didn’t want to read it. I know what Leo has to say,” Valverde was quoted by The Statesman.

“He expresses himself naturally and then people tend to misinterpret what he has said,” the Spanish manager said, adding, “Everything he says, people try to squeeze out every sub-meaning from his words. I think he was just trying to express things naturally, I don’t think we need to worry.”

He then went on to confess that he has no worries regarding Messi’s future as it is the decision of the club of whether a player will leave or stay.

“I don’t think there are any doubts regarding his future. It’s the club that decides which players it’s going to keep or not, but I don’t think there are any concerns, certainly I don’t have any concerns about it,”
