Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi has revealed that he is unsure whether the club management did everything in their power to bring back Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar back to the Nou Camp.

Messi and Neymar spent four years together at the club as team-mates during which they combined with Luis Suarez to form the deadly "MSN" trio, one that shattered records and helped them win a number of trophies, including two La Liga titles and one UEFA Champions League.

With recent reports indicating that Neymar was very close to returning back to Spain only for it to fall through in the end, Messi reveals that wanted the Brazilian at the club but that their squad is still very strong without him.

"I would have loved for Neymar to come. Honestly, I don't know if Barca did everything possible to get him back but I'm sure negotiating with PSG isn't easy. I am not disappointed. We have a spectacular squad that can fight on all fronts, without Ney as well," Messi said to SPORT.

"On a sporting level Neymar is one of the best in the world. And with him on the sponsorship and image front the club would have also taken a step up."

The Argentinian who is the beating heart of the club, is yet to feature for them this season and it is not confirmed whether he will return for Barcelona's clash against Valencia on Saturday.
