Retired Dutch footballer and former Inter Milan winger Andy van der Meyde is of the opinion that Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku can score more goals than Juventus hitman Cristiano Ronaldo this season.

Since joining from Manchester United in this summer's transfer window, Lukaku has hit the ground running at Inter Milan, scoring two goals in his first two games for the club in Serie A.

While Lukaku managed just 12 goals in the entirety of last season in the Premier League, Van der Meyde believes that the striker will shine in Serie A and can easily outscore Ronaldo.

"Lukaku is a fan of Italian football and I think he's made for this competition," van der Meyde told Juvenews.eu

He continued, "He (Lukaku) is strong and can score many goals. He has a very powerful physical structure and this will put all Italian defences in crisis. Lukaku can easily beat Ronaldo. He has always shown that he knows how to score wherever he has played, he is a pure centre-forward, while Cristiano plays most of the time out wide."

Ronaldo, meanwhile has gone on and done what he has been doing throughout his career as he banged in four goals for Portugal against Lithuania on Thursday. Domestically, Ronaldo managed to net 21 goals for Juventus last season.
