England and Manchester United legend, David Beckham has reportedly made contact with Barcelona icon, Lionel Messi over a sensational move to join his new Major League Soccer (MLS) franchisee, Inter Miami.

Barcelona based, Catalunya Radio as per Mirror claims that Beckham has contacted Messi regarding a "huge deal" to become the face of Inter, with his club set to enter into the MLS sphere in 2020. This new development comes in the wake of reports that the 32-year-old has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave the club in June.

Despite this clause, it is understood that is highly unlikely that Messi will move to the MLS as his advisors have quoted for huge demands for him to make any potential transfer. The Catalan club's directors are also said to be aware of the interest in Messi by Inter, though they don't believe that the Argentinian will leave the club in the future.

Barcelona's president, Josep Maria Bartomeu for one has downplayed the whole contract situation as the club reportedly prepare to offer Messi a lifetime contract in order to make sure that the striker remains at the Camp Nou for the foreseeable future.

It will be interesting to see how Messi's contract situation plays out in the future considering that he is the highest paid footballer in the sport.
