England play hosts to Bulgaria at the Wembley Stadium as the two teams face off in their Euro 2020 qualifier. The hosts have won both their games so far and would be looking to continue their winning run and take control of the group.
Bulgaria are languishing at the bottom of the table and would want to pull off an upset and get their maiden win of the campaign.
Here are three things to look forward to as the Three Lions host the Lions:
3. No Wins in 10 Against England for Bulgaria
In the ten previous occasions that England and Bulgaria have met, the visitors have not been able to pick up a win. It looks unlikely that the home side will drop points tonight either, especially considering the strength of their first-team and the depth in the squad.
Wins here and in their next game will almost confirm their place at Euro 2020 as the Three Lions focus on getting ready for the European Championships in their quest to win a tournament for the first time since 1966.
2. Bulgaria's Winless Run
On the other hand, Bulgaria are in a bit of a terrible place, having not won in their last seven games. They even lost to Kosovo in their Euro 2020 qualifier. The appointment of national legend Krasimir Balakov too has not changed their fortunes.
Balakov will be hoping Brazil-born attacker Wanderson can make a difference in his first game as the Lions are desperate to get a positive result and snatch a win if possible.
1. Building on Recent Improvement
England have reached the semi-finals of the last two tournaments they have participated in, and are hoping to build on this level of success. Past successes have always been followed by a downfall but manager Gareth Southgate is ensuring that his team remains fresh and continues to reach new heights.
The target eventually will be a place in the final and potentially winning Euro 2020, but first, they need to show that they can dominate the easy games too.
