Manchester United's legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel absolutely annihilated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side after they fell to a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in their third Premier League clash of the season.
Palace took the lead after the half-hour mark as Jordan Ayew scored before Daniel James got United back in the game with a goal late into the second half. However, the Red Devils' defence went to sleep as Patrick van Aanholt grabbed the win for Palace in the last minute to hand United their first defeat of the season, that too at Old Trafford.
Schmeichel, who featured for Manchester United between the years 1991 to 1999, took to Twitter in order to express his anger at the way the Old Trafford side fell to a defeat against Palace.
There is hope, international transfer window is open for sales until September 2nd😡😡😡@ManUtd— Peter Schmeichel (@Pschmeichel1) August 24, 2019
The Danish football legend said: "There is hope, international transfer window is open for sales until September 2nd," followed by three angry face emojis.
United fans seemed to have liked this tweet coming from a club legend and spoke in unison as they expressed their anger at the way their side fell to defeat at Old Trafford.
Here's how they reacted:
Well it’s meant to be a fuckin football club first not a atm for leeching sewer rats the glazers #Glazersout— MUFC not PLC (@LarkmanMarie) August 25, 2019
Some fans really got no chill:
he's not wrong at all.— George (@Behizyy) August 24, 2019
Let them terminate his contract. We don't need him anymore.— Ali Hassan (@bashiralba) August 24, 2019
No one wants Lingard and Young but the are our 1st team selections. I hope the I'll form doesn't affect Wan-Bissaka and Maguire— Chi UTD ✨ (@UtdChi) August 24, 2019
Fuck the lot of them. If that's the best these so called professional footballers can do then fuck them off. I'm sick and tired of watching the same old dross for the past 6 years. We're no better now than when Moyes took over.— Pete Dunn (@dunnp01) August 24, 2019
Could do with some sales. Half of the team doesn't even play and they pocket more.— Himmatt S.🇾🇪 (@FootyHimmatt7) August 24, 2019
How about selling the club or someone like you calling the glazers out or as sir Alex silenced you all #Glazersout— MUFC not PLC (@LarkmanMarie) August 24, 2019
Don't think they'd make it TOP 4 let alone challenging for title. Spineless performance. Bunch of over paid and overrated players. Rashford is a good player but not good enough. And no penalty takers in the team— BVasuB (@BVasuB1) August 24, 2019
Even Peter and Edwin combined wouldn’t save this club— Alun Sagara (@AlunSagara_) August 24, 2019
Lingard, Sanchez etc— Jake🏴 (@jakewilliams238) August 24, 2019
No its terrible management!!!! Persisting with Lindgard and Ashey young, not buying proper midfielders this is the board and Ole's fault— Red4life (@united_jedi) August 24, 2019
Imagine have Lingard/McTominay and Shaw in your starting line up but act as if Pogba is the problem. Looking forward to the Gary Neville campaign of hate against Pogba for this one.— Peter Johnson (@football_bandit) August 24, 2019
The problem @ManUtd is this dilusion that there is a @ManUtd way of playing, rubbish. Truth is SAF was a great man manager and great reader of games, heck the old man had a plan B even z. But most importantly everyone wanted to play for him and go through walls for him.— Themba Tlou (@ttlo1) August 24, 2019
United will be looking to put the extreme disappointment of this loss behind them and get back to winning ways when they take on Southampton next weekend.
