Maddison moved to Leicester at the start of last season and has been in great form for the Foxes, creating 100 chances in the previous campaign. He has continued that form in the new season as well, causing problems for Chelsea in their 1-1 draw over the weekend.
Carragher believes that Liverpool should act fast and bring the player to the club as he is the sort of talent that can take the club to the next level.
Carragher’s view was also shared by Sky Sports colleague and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville, who reckons that Maddison is an England star in the making.— Anfield Watch (@AnfieldWatch) August 20, 2019
“I think he is outstanding. I think he will be playing for England a lot of times.”https://t.co/0XU2tPotwE
“I think he is the one player outside of the top six who Liverpool should be looking at," he said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, according to Goal. “People have been talking about
Coutinho coming back, but obviously that hasn’t happened as he’s gone to Bayern Munich, but if you're looking in the Premier League, yes he will cost a lot of money, but he should be the one Liverpool are looking at if you’re going to that next step up.”
Fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville also believes that Maddison is a fantastic player and said that he was a genuine creative player.
“I think he’s outstanding," he added. "No 10s aren’t as fashionable nowadays, it’s more about wide strikers who score the goals. “It used to be about the [Gianfranco] Zolas and [Eric] Cantonas, and he is a genuine creative player who will go on to play for England and be involved in the European Championship. I think he is fantastic.”
