Real Madrid's 2-2 draw against AS Roma completed a pretty disappointing pre-season for Zinedine Zidane's men this summer, who managed to win just two games out of the seven that they played over the last month.

Los Blancos' were so poor that they actually were the worst performing La Liga club in pre-season. So much so, that if we go to apply a league table system with standings considering three points for a win, one point for a draw and none for a loss, on average, Real Madrid were the last placed club in the table.

AS reveal that Madrid's overall performance consisted of two wins, two draws and three defeats which earned them a total of eight points, which is an average of 1.14 per match.

Meanwhile, their traditional rivals FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid won all games barring one in their pre-season. Barca had lost to Chelsea whereas Atletico drew against Chivas. But neither of Barcelona or Atletico come first in the ranking for the best performing Spanish club in pre-season.

While pre-season fixtures are more of a warm-up for clubs in order to prepare for the new season and usually involves a lot of players getting adequately rested due to hectic travel commitments, the above table could be considered as not painting the whole picture as of now.

Nevertheless, a good pre-season plays a huge role in boosting a team's confidence and Real Madrid are currently deprived of that feeling. However, with a host of new signings including that of Belgian star Eden Hazard could see Los Blancos propel themselves to a respectable position in the upcoming season.
