Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy has heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold and has compared him to David Beckham. The young Liverpool right-back has been tremendous ever since he made his debut with the club and has established himself as one of the best attacking right-backs in the world.

The Englishman is only 20 but has already played in two Champions League finals and was an essential cog for his team as he ended up as Liverpool’s highest assist-maker in the league last season.

According to Danny Murphy, his passing and technical prowess is something very unique for a full-back. He also believes that the Liverpool star’s crossing ability is as good as England legend David Beckham and also praised his ability to take set-plays.

“Trent’s display of passing and technical ability that we’ve not seen in a full-back for many, many years," Murphy told talkSPORT on Monday morning. Trent, for me, is as good a crosser of the ball I’ve seen since David Beckham."

“His crossing is already as good as Beckham, definitely. His set plays and crossing are both phenomenal.”

Murphy then stated that the defender’s ability on the ball is something usually seen in midfielders and believes that he would make a better wing-back because of his attacking qualities coupled with his defensive lacking.

“His technical ability, his passing ability is very unusual for a full-back, normally it’s a midfielder who possess those type of quality. Ideally you want to see him as a wing-back. He gets caught out in defence sometimes, but he will create and make goals in whatever position he plays.”
