Rating Premier League's Top 6 Clubs' Debutants Based on Performance in Gameweek 1

The new Premier League season started with a bang as all 20 clubs clashed against each other on gameweek one of the campaign, with seven clubs coming out with all three points, six clubs earning draws and the rest seven facing defeats.

Chelsea were the only top six club to have faced defeat on the first day of the season after Manchester United romped them 4-0 at Old Trafford.

All teams had new signings who featured for them for the first time. Here are our ratings for all of them who featured for the traditional top six clubs in England....

6. Arsenal

Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe came in as second half substitutes for Arsenal as they made their bow in English football in a hard fought 1-0 win against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Introduced in the 64th and 71st minute, Ceballos and Pepe helped ensuring the Gunners of all three points after Aubameyang had handed them the lead in the 58th minute of the game.

In the 25 odd minutes played by Ceballos, was often sloppy in possession but is expected to improve as the season goes on. 

Pepe, meanwhile, looks like he will soon get the hang of English football before he begins to show his true qualities.

5. Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian was forced to make his debut after Alisson was suffered an injury. The Reds did concede a goal, which was not Adrian's fault as they ended up starting their campaign with a 4-1 win.

With Alisson likely to be out for eight weeks, Jurgen Klopp will hope for more to come from Adrian in the coming matches.

4. Chelsea

Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount made their debuts for Chelsea against Manchester United on Sunday in the Premier League.

The American made his debut as he came on a 58th minute substitute for Ross Barkley, but couldn’t prevent a Chelsea collapse as United ran rampant in the second half.

Mason Mount also made his Premier League debut after two seasons on loan and Frank Lampard will be impressed by his efforts. Mount tested David De Gea on a couple of occasions and fans can expect a lot more from the youngster throughout this season.

3. Tottenham Hotspur

New signing Tanguy Ndombele struggled for most of the game against Aston Villa but delivered when it mattered the most as he scored a crucial equalising goal for Tottenham  before the Lillywhites went on to win the match later.

Ndombele was the only new signing to have featured for Spurs in this game.

Rating - 7.5/10

2. Manchester City

Spanish midfielder Rodri made his Premier League debut for Manchester City after headlining the Community Shield win against Liverpool and he did exactly what he was signed for as City went rampant to score five past West Ham United.

Lanzini did give him a few problems but Rodri grew as the game went on and showcased his class.

Rating - 7.5/10

1. Manchester United

All three of Manchester United's debutants, Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka made dream starts to their respective careers at Old Trafford as the Red Devils beat Chelsea 4-0 in their first match of the new Premier League season.

Wan-Bissaka was busy up and down the flank as he did a great job defending Ross Barkley as well as contributing to United's attack.

Maguire was largely calm and was able to deal with any threat posed to United's goal from the centre of the part, putting in a couple of crucial blocks to stop the Blues from brining De Gea into action.

Daniel James came on as a second half substitute but had the most special moment on the pitch as he scored just seven minutes into his Manchester United debut, after coming on as substitute in the 74th minute of the game.
