Brazilian superstar Neymar has reportedly gone on and asked legendary Lionel Messi to convince Spanish champions  FC Barcelona to sign the Paris Saint-Germain forward in this summer's transfer window.

Neymar shockingly made the move to France in a world record transfer in 2017, however just two years from that move, he is said to have grown frustrated with his time at the club.

PSG are reported to be open to selling him to Real Madrid but Neymar reportedly wants to join Barcelona and re-unite with Messi.

And The Times, as quoted by Star claim that Messi has been working for 'several months' to trigger the Barcelona board to try and make Neymar's signing possible.

However, Real Madrid are thought of closing in on the Brazilian maestro by agreeing a player-plus-cash deal with the French champions for the forward.

Meanwhile, PSG sporting director Leonardo admitted last week that Neymar was approaching the exit door at Parc des Princes. He said: "Talks more advanced than before, but there's no agreement. We will see what happens, everybody needs the future to be resolved."

Neymar has made it clear he wants out and has been excluded from the squad as PSG prepare to defend their title once again, though the official line is that he is carrying an injury.

Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have until September 2 to try and bring the Brazilian forward back to Spain and it remains to be seen whether either of the two teams are capable of doing so in the upcoming weeks.
